Intervention: Clarification

I am not suggesting national security is an ignoble motive for war. I do, however, disagree with the idea of killing in order to strengthen an economy. I have simply stated war should be based on the idea of utilitarianism. What made the US decide to intervene in Iraq instead of other parts of the world just as deserving of attention? Economic benefits? National security? I wasn't aware terrorist organizations were exclusively located in Iraq. Finally, I base my political opinions of intervention on three things: 1. Morals 2. Feasibility 3. End Results. If the fundamental motive behind Iraqi Freedom was to protect the civilians from an evil dictator, I applaud Pres. Bush and his staff. I think any reasonable and honest critic would agree the war was poorly executed. Lastly, I haven't seen an end result. Political scientists predict the war to last up to 10 more years. Consequently, US attention and money will be focused on a war without purpose, without feasibility, and without results. Clearly while involved in Iraqi Freedom, other world problems of worthy attention and left off to the side. Interesting.
